Are you accepting donations of relevant material and artworks to the Arts Jamaica Archive?
We are happy to meaningfully engage with relevant materials and their holders. But due to the infancy of the art archive, we will access each donation offer on a case-by-case basis.
Where can I visit the archive?
Located in Kingston, the accessioning and preservation process of the Arts Jamaica Archive is currently in its nascent stage. Once the physical condition of the archival material concerned is better safeguarded, public access will be established.
In the meantime, we intend to facilitate and enable research with selected items periodically, in-person and/or online where appropriate.
Who are you working with?
This is an independent non-profit initiative and we function as independent collaborators in the heritage sector of a transnational community. We are collectively advocating for cultural policies and to motivate new economies for living visual artists in the Caribbean. Partnerships and collaborations with regional and international cultural heritage specialists and arts institutions is a high priority.
In this nascent stage, we are establishing an Arts Jamaica Archive committee to help champion and advance our cultural work.
